Jamaican Sorrel Rum Drink Recipe

Sorrel is the most popular Jamaican holiday drink during the Christmas season. Try this easy to prepare Jamaican Sorrel recipe with White Rum.

Ingredients

1 lb fresh sorrel
2oz fresh ginger (grated)
10 pimento grains
1 cup white rum you can pour as much rum as you wish
sugar (sweeten taste)
2qtz water (8 cups)

Directions

1.

In a container, wash sorrel thoroughly with hand, using the fingers to lift it from the water.
Place washed sorrel in a stainless steel container.
Mark as complete

Add peeled and washed ginger to container along with pimento grains and water.
Mark as complete

Put to boil for 3-5 minutes then turn off heat.
Mark as complete

Leave to brew overnight or at least 4-6 hours.
Mark as complete

Strain sorrel flower and pimento.
Mark as complete

Add sugar to sweeten taste
Mark as complete

Add rum to taste
Mark as complete
8.

Put to chill
Serve with ice. Enjoy!

Notes

* Its a Jamaican tradition to add White Rum in your sorrel drink however its just a good without the alcohol. You can remove rum ingredients list, if necessary.
