2 tsp baking powder
8 oz cornmeal
2 oz sugar
2 tsp nutmeg (grated)
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp margarine
1 tsp lime juice
1 cup water
1 cup vegetable oil

  • Large bowl

  • Frying pan

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 8 oz cornmeal

  • 2 oz sugar

  • 2 tsp nutmeg (grated)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp margarine

  • 1 tsp lime juice

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

In a large bowl sift flour, baking powder and cornmeal.

Add sugar, nutmeg, salt, margarine and lime juice.

Gradually add water, just enough to bind the mixture to a manageable dough.

Leave to relax for two minutes.

Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan, shape dough into fingers and fry until golden brown.

Drain on absorbent paper.
